BROOKINGS – Former NFL player Joe Jackson, who was drafted by the New York Jets and then played with the Minnesota Vikings, will be the guest speaker at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 15, at the First Assembly of God Church, 416 17th Ave. S.
Jackson grew up in a Christian home, but due to his lack of self confidence and low esteem, along with his 6-feet tall, 176-pound figure in sixth grade, he felt odd, weird and clumsy.
He sought acceptance and approval from his peers.
His poor choices led him to juvenile detention with reform school on the horizon. His dream of one day playing in the National Football League slipped away – not to mention the big disappointment to his parents and family. Joe needed a priority change. He needed God.
Area residents are invited to come hear Jackson share his testimony.
