Led by first-team selection Dallas Goedert, the South Dakota State University football team placed four players on the 2017 Phil Steele FCS All-America Teams.

A senior tight end from Britton, Goedert was named to his third All-America squad in a week, after previously being honored by The Associated Press and Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association. Goedert finished the season as the team leader with 72 receptions and 1,111 receiving yards, while adding seven touchdown catches. His receiving total leads all Division I tight ends – FCS and FBS – this season.

Also an All-American in 2016, Goedert has been selected to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl Jan. 27 in Mobile, Alabama.

Second-team honors went to Jackrabbit offensive lineman Jacob Ohnesorge and linebacker Christian Rozeboom. Ohnesorge wrapped up a career in which he tied an SDSU record by starting 53 games – all at center – and anchored a Jackrabbit offensive unit that averaged 37.2 points and 438.6 yards of total offense per game. He earlier was announced as a first-team selection to the Associated Press All-America team and also was tabbed as the FCS recipient of the Rimington Award as the top center in his college football classification.

Rozeboom, a sophomore from Sioux Center, Iowa, posted a team-best 127 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He registered 10 or more tackles in seven contests, while adding two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and a blocked kick. Rozeboom previously was honored as a third-team selection to the Associated Press All-America Team.

Completing the Jackrabbit selections to the Phil Steele honor squad was senior wide receiver Jake Wieneke. In earning All-America recognition for a program-best fourth year in a row, Wieneke tallied 65 receptions for 965 yards and tied his own school record with 16 touchdown receptions. The Maple Grove, Minn., native finished his career second in FCS history with 59 touchdown receptions and third in receiving yards with 5,157.

Both Ohnesorge and Wieneke have received invitations to play in the Jan. 20 East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Florida.

SDSU, coached by John Stiegelmeier, finished the 2017 season with a school-record 11 wins against three losses. The Jackrabbits qualified for the FCS playoffs for the sixth year in a row and reached the national semifinals for the first time.
