BROOKINGS – The 39th annual Fourth of July parade will roll down streets in Brookings beginning at 11 a.m. Monday.

Cami Powers, market manager at Brookings Radio, said that there might be close to 100 entries for this year’s event, with 60 entries confirmed as of earlier this week. She said that people still looking to register to take part can pick up parade entries forms at Brookings Radio or email her at Cami.Powers@alphamediausa.com.

Powers added that the American Legion color guard will lead the parade. It will be followed by the Brookings Police Department, fire department and ambulance, members of the Brookings City Council, floats, decorated cars and trucks – some that will be vintage – and politicians. She said that some of the parade entries will be handing out candy as well.

With lineup beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Third Street and Third Avenue by the police department,  the parade’s route will be east on Third Street to Medary Avenue, north to Sixth Street, west to Main Avenue, and south back to Third Street.

The parade is sponsored by Brookings Radio and the Brookings Fire Department.
