Frank E. Bunker, 94, of Flandreau, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Riverview Healthcare Community.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation and viewing were from  5 – 7 p.m. Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Frank was born July 20, 1923, at De Smet to John R. and Ellen (Haley) Bunker.

He went to country school through the eighth grade in Kingsbury County.  Frank married Doris Mohror on Oct. 16, 1943, at Arlington.

They farmed northeast of Arlington until the summer of 1959 when they moved to Flandreau. Frank buried natural gas pipeline in Flandreau before going to work for Norman Johnson doing construction. In 1961, he bought out Norman’s business and named it Bunker Construction Company. When it came to sand, gravel or excavation, Moody County residents called on Frank Bunker for 27 years.

His wife died July 30, 1984. Frank married Mary Wenge on May 21, 1988, in Flandreau.

He never officially retired and was still driving a bulldozer in his 80s. Frank was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was a big teaser and prankster, was an avid baseball fan, loved horses and was a “horsetrader” all his life.

Frank is survived by his wife Mary; four children, Richard “Dick” (Sharon) of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Rosemary “Rosie” Schipper, Yuma, Arizona, Keith and Brian, both of Flandreau; six step-daughters, Monica (Roger) Nieman of Omaha, Nebraska, Cindy (Jerry) Schwebach of Brandon, Jani (Mike) Schmidt of Jacksonville, Florida, Cheryl (Gene) Reaves of Brandon, Sheila (Todd) Rose of Watertown, Dawn (Randy) Sibson of Vermillion; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; two surviving sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.

Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris; son, Doug; a grandson, a step-grandson, and 12 brothers and sisters.
