Fred Kurtz, 89, passed away on July 5, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded with the love of his wife and three daughters.

Fred was born in White, South Dakota, and graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. 

He then served in the Air Force and went on to have a long career at GTE Sylvania. 

Fred loved fixing up European cars, singing at church and in the Schola Cantorum and playing softball, volleyball and ping pong. 

He was known for his cheerful disposition, friendly waves in the neighborhood and always there to lend a hand. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna; his three children, Jenell Kurtz, Rhonda (Brett) Bonifay and Ginger (Jim) Coffey; and his six grandchildren, Calyssa, Brecken, and Boston Bonifay and Cade Ridge and Tygan Coffey. 

Fred Newton Kurtz was preceded in death by his father Fred E. Kurtz, mother Florence Newton Kurtz and brothers Curtis Kurtz and Kendall Kurtz. 

He is also survived by siblings Elta Woodard of Sioux Falls, SD, Doreen Smith of Greeley, CO, Jo Ann (Willis) Meyer of Brookings, SD, Wallace (Carol) Kurtz of Rocky Ford, CO, and Leslie Ferris of Boynton Beach, FL. His siblings, numerous nieces and nephews will miss his adventurous spirit and beautiful singing voice.

He will be dearly missed and his family plans to celebrate his life in a private ceremony due to the current restrictions.
