BROOKINGS – The 2017 Friends of Baseball Fans of the Year Award has been presented to Jim and Angie Lerdal.

Pictured (from left) are Jim, Chris, Jordan and Angie Lerdal.

Jim has spent eight years on the Friends of Brookings Baseball Board of Directors, serving six of them as President. The duties of the President go far beyond monthly meetings – fundraising, attending state meetings, budgeting and assisting with tournaments are all things Jim has done during his time on the board. Since Jim has served on the board, Brookings has hosted 42 regular-season tournaments and five state tournaments.

Angie has done several things to support Friends of Baseball over the years such as organize fundraisers, completing the summer program booklet, advertising and all that you can imagine at all of the tournaments.

Most of Jim and Angie's memories of Brookings baseball will be following their two sons, Jordan and Chris. Jordan was a 2014 Brookings High School graduate and played on the 2010 14U and 2012 American Legion state championship teams. Chris, a 2017 BHS graduate, played on the 2015 and 2016 BHS state championship teams. Jim and Angie have always taken the "it's for the kids" type attitude toward Brookings baseball.
