FSA announces program for wool producers

Posted

BROOKINGS – Steve Minor from the Brookings County Farm Service Agency would like to remind sheep producers of the opportunity for a Loan Deficiency Payment (LDP) for the wool that they produce.

The LDP is a payment earned for wool produced and lambs sold as un-shorn when the loan rate is below the post county price. In 2020, the LDP rate was $.30/lb.

To be eligible for the wool, LDP producers must sign a CCC-633EZ- page 1 prior to losing beneficial interest in the wool and/or unshorn lambs. A new CCC-633EZ needs to be signed for each year. Beneficial interest is lost when the producer no longer has control of the wool and/or lambs.

For more information on the LDPs, contact the Brookings County Farm Service Agency at 692-8003 ext. 2.
