BGCB wants to give someone a truck

BROOKINGS – The Boys & Girls Club of Brookings is hosting its eighth annual truck raffle, with tickets being sold until June 13.

Each ticket costs $100, and only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Prizes include three $1,000 cash prizes, multiple early bird prizes, and a grand prize 2018 Ford F-150.

Early bird prizes will be drawn each Friday of the week leading up to the grand prize drawing June 13. Tickets are due by 11:59 p.m. Thursday to be eligible for early bird prize drawings on Friday. All names will be re-entered after winning an early bird prize, meaning the earlier someone enters the drawing, the more chances of winning.

Boys & Girls Club of Brookings first opened its doors in 2003 and then served around 40 members. Today, the club has grown to have a clubhouse preschool, first- through fifth-grade club and teen center.

The club continues to provide a safe and fun place for almost 400 youth who come each day.

Boys & Girls Club alumna and part-time staff member Cassi Bruns says the club was a place where she could spend time with her brothers.

“My fondest memory was that the club was the only place I got to see my brothers while we were growing up. My parents got a divorce, and since my brothers were not actually my father’s, we were separated. The club was able to bring us together.”

Bruns now works at the club as a youth development specialist.

The club’s impact and growth would not have been possible without the support of donors.

Truck raffle tickets can be purchased from the club, club board members or club staff members, Einspahr Auto Plaza, Hy-Vee, Medary Acres, Dacotah Bank, Brookings Radio, Perry Electric or online at the Club website,

A free supper and Boys & Girls Club event will be held on June 13 at the Teen Center. The grand prize will be drawn first, followed by the three cash prizes. Ticket-holders do not need to be present to win prizes.

The mission of The Boys and Girls Club is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The before/after school programs, summer programs and other camps provide fun, educational activities and opportunities for all youth at an affordable cost.
