Gazelles race past Bobcats, 43-27

BROOKINGS – Yankton defeated the Bobcats 43-27 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ basketball game Tuesday evening at Bob Jostad Gymnasium.

Madison Wuebben dropped in a game-high 20 points and added five steals.

She had 15 points at halftime, as the Gazelles (4-5) were on top 23-7.

Brookings finished 12-of-37 (32.4%) from the field and committed 29 turnovers. The home team was just 3-of-15 with 20 giveaways in the opening 16 minutes.

Ainsley Shelsta went 5-of-10 from the floor while scoring 10 points for Brookings. She added nine rebounds in 17 1/2 minutes of action.

Johanna Miller scored nine points on 3-of-5 shooting and grabbed seven boards.

Brookings (0-10) is host to Brandon Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.
