Genevieve Bumann, 101, a former Oldham resident died, Wednesday April 12, 2017. at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the Oldham Lutheran Church in Oldham, with the Rev. Joanne Negele officiating. Burial is in the Oldham Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, in the church and preceding services in the church on Monday.
Genevieve Peterson was born Oct. 2, 1915, to Peter and Clara (Hoganson) Peterson at their home in Oldham. She attended grade and high school in Oldham and graduated in 1933. Gen married Roy Bumann on April 20, 1935, and established a home in the South Preston farm community and they had five children.
She enjoyed making quilts. Not only did family members receive her quilts, there were many church quilts and Linus Project quilts along with Oldham Potato Days fundraiser quilts.
Another enjoyment, was having a visit in her home and by having a Coke or tea with her.
Survivors include her son Bill (Karen) Bumann of Lake Preston; a daughter JoAnn Lingbeck of Madison; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Orpha Abrahamson of Hartford; several nieces and nephews; sons-in-law, Paul Jensen and Cal Schubert, plus many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Shirlee and Kim, one son, Niel, and one great-great-grandchild, Brody.
