Gerelyn (Stewart) Kelly, 73, of Hot Springs Village, AR, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2020.
Gerelyn was born July 24, 1946, to Lyle and Aline Stewart in Brookings.  She graduated from Brookings High School in 1964 and South Dakota State University in 1969 with a degree in Music Education. Gerelyn was a talented musician. While at SDSU she accompanied the Statesmen Men’s Chorus and sang in the Concert Choir.
In 1970, Gerelyn married Jim Kelly. They spent most of their married life in Moline Illinois. Gerelyn taught piano for over 40 years to both children and adults. She was a sought after accompanist in the area for school groups and had a great reputation with Gospel music.
In 2005 Gerelyn and Jim retiresd to Hot Springs Village AR. Growing up in a musical family, music was a large part of her life. She was a talented vocalist as well as pianist. While in Arkansas she continued to use her music talents by singing in church choirs, The Hot Springs Village Chorale, the PEO Singers and other ensembles. One of her favorite accomplishments was performing in Carnegie Hall with full orchestra back-up. She accompanied the Village Men’s Chorus for over 12 years and played piano at her church in both traditional and contemporary services.
In addition to her music, Gerelyn loved cooking, baking, and entertaining. She loved traveling and attending concerts. In her last few years she enjoyed ten cruises .
In addition to her husband Jim, Gerelyn is survived by her sister Diane Dirksen, (Jay), also of Hot Springs village, and several nieces and nephews. A private burial service was held for her in June.
