TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts defeated South Dakota State 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22 in a Summit League volleyball match Tuesday night at the Aerobics Center.
“There is a lot to look up at after a match like that,” coach Nicole Cirillo told SDSU Sports Information. “We played and fought for the entire match tonight and just kept putting the pressure back on a good Oral Roberts team.”
CeCe Madison totaled 16 kills, two blocks (one solo) and 18 digs to pace the Golden Eagles (6-12, 3-3), who ended up with 66 kills as a team.
Morgan Blomquist had 13 kills and Taylan Nero 11 to go with two blocks. Bri Greenlee contributed eight kills and 3 1/2 blocks. Inka Inkret tallied seven kills, two service aces and 12 digs.
Bria Bergman dished out 50 set assists and came up with 12 digs. Tori Roe notched 23 digs.
For the Jackrabbits, Makenzie Hennen finished with 13 kills, a block and 14 digs.
Ashlynn Smith had 11 kills and a block.
Payton Richardson recorded 5 1/2 (three solo) of the team’s 10 blocks and also had five kills. Sydney Andrews had six kills, a block and an ace. Crystal Burk chipped in with five kills and two aces.
Maddie Fay (24) and Mattison Munger (13) combined for 37 set assists. Ellie Thein had 21 digs, Munger 17 and Kasey Brower 11.
It marked SDSU’s 22nd consecutive Summit League loss – the fourth-longest streak in conference history.
Centenary lost 54 league matches in a row from 2007-10 and 34 consecutively between 2003-05. The Jackrabbits had a 23-match losing streak from 2013-15.
South Dakota State (3-16, 0-6) plays host to Western Illinois (1-18, 0-6) on Friday at 7 p.m.
