GPL boys cruise to Class B title

WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Christian’s Judah Aderhold went deep to take medalist honors and Great Plains Lutheran closed strong to win the team title by 26 strokes at the Class B State Boys’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Cattail Crossing.

The Panthers shot 233 for a 472 total.

Parker (247) and Platte-Geddes (250) tied for second at 498.

Hamlin (242) finished fourth and Ipswich fifth (247) with 36-hole tallies of 500 and 509, respectively.

Colman-Egan and Deubrook Area both closed with 254s to tie for ninth at 520.

Aderhold, a senior, carded a 3-under-par 69 for a 4-over 148 total and a two-stroke victory. He made six birdies in the second round.

Gregory’s JJ Beck (73) was second at 150. Devon Weelborg (77) led the Panthers by taking third with a 36-hole tally of 151.

First-round leader Devan Weelborg, of Hamlin, shot 77 and was fourth at 153. Parker’s Trey Chris-tensen (79) rounded out the top five with a 156 total.

Hawk senior Kade Groos placed sixth to conclude his career. He shot 78 Tuesday and finished with a 157 total.

Groos placed fourth as a junior, tied for 20th as a sophomore, placed 19th as a freshman and tied for 31st as an eighth-grader.

Bodee Groos (85) tied for 17th at 166; Chandler Gullickson (91) tied for 89th at 197; and Nate Tol-ley (106) ended up 112th at 227.

Nash Colberg tied for 24th to pace the Dolphins. He shot 82 in the second round and ended up at 169.

Jack Bandemer (86) and Nick Olson (87) tied for 39th at 176, while Luke Urevig (86) tied for 60th with a 186 total.

Arlington senior Scott Sampson placed 16th at 165, including a final-round 79. Teammate Trey Ramstad (91) tied for 80th at 192.

Sampson tied for 39th as a junior, tied for 67th as a sophomore, tied for 59th as a freshman and tied for 86th as an eighth-grader.
