Graves honored for volunteerism

BROOKINGS – The Helpline Center recently announced that Vicki Graves was named the November 2018 Volunteer of the Month, an area-wide award program sponsored by the Helpline Center.

There to honor and thank Graves were Lacie Petersen, executive director at Option 1; Laura Bierman, client services director at Option 1; Keith Corbett, mayor of the City of Brookings; and Sarah Lippert, volunteer connections coordinator at Helpline Center.

Graves is a client Advocate at Option 1 and has been volunteering with the organization for almost 10 years. She performs the day-to-day tasks in the center, as well as interacts with our clients every week doing the Earn While You Learn program. Graves also does pregnancy testing, results reading, and counseling, if necessary.

Not only does she serve her shifts faithfully, she is the first to volunteer to pick up a shift if the staff are short-handed. She is always fulfilling her role with excellence, no matter what is asked of her that day or no matter how complicated the situation.

She fiercely loves everyone she comes in contact with and the organization would be lost without her.

For information on volunteer opportunities or the Volunteer of the Month program, please contact Sarah Lippert at bkvol@helplinecenter.org or call 211 for more information.
