BROOKINGS – The Brookings Convention & Visitors Bureau and area attractions are promoting the community through the Brookings Great 8 Passport initiative.
Inspired by the South Dakota Department of Tourism’s Great 8 campaign, the Brookings Great 8 Passport encourages visitors to make multiple stops during their time exploring the community, while increasing awareness of Brookings attractions.
The concept grew out of collaborative efforts from the Visitor Attractions Committee of the CVB, in an effort to tie in with the state’s campaign.
“The passport is a great way to bring awareness, as well as increase attendance to some of our community’s most iconic locations,” said Kate Treiber, executive director of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. “It motivates travelers and even residents to explore more and perhaps visit a location they’ve never experienced before.”
The Brookings Great 8 is the passport to one-of-a-kind attractions found only in Brookings. Not just for visitors, this new initiative is for everyone including local residents.
“This passport gives all our attractions equal exposure, whether it’s just for the day or for years to come,” said Lisa Marotz, director of operations at McCrory Gardens. All ages are encouraged to pick up a passport, follow along the dotted trail and explore the great places, local hubs and state museums original to Brookings. The Brookings Great 8 Passport includes the following attractions:
Bring your family and make a stop at each location to receive a stamp in your passport. Get as many stamps as possible and turn in the completed passport to any one of the Great 8 attractions, including the Brookings CVB. Upon returning the passport, each submission will be entered into a monthly drawing for a $25 cash card.
The Brookings Great 8 Passport can be found at all participating locations, including the Brookings CVB office. The program will run June through December 2017, and monthly winners will be announced on the Brookings CVB’s Facebook page.
