Gun stolen from vehicle in rural Brookings

BROOKINGS – A handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in rural Brookings, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft was reported at 3:17 p.m. Thursday and occurred in the 1800 block of 16th Avenue West in rural Brookings, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

The gun was left in an unlocked vehicle parked at his residence,” he said.

“The stolen gun was a 9mm Glock 19 pistol, equipped with Ameriglo front sights and factory stock sights on the back. The firearm was in a Glock case with three additional magazines,” Sebring said.

The theft occurred sometime between August 17 to Monday, Sept. 7, he added.
