Hamlin sweeps titles at home golf tourney

LAKE POINSETT – The hosts swept the team titles at the Hamlin Charger Classic on Thursday afternoon at Lake Region.

Girls

Hamlin shot 140 to edge Castlewood (141) for the title, while Sioux Valley and Clark/Willow Lake tied for third at 157.

The Warriors’ Regan Benike was medalist with a nine-hole score of 43.

The Chargers’ Logan Keszler (44) and Taylor Koisti (47) were second and third, respectively.

Castlewood’s Brooke Bruinsma (48) took fourth and Sioux Valley’s Montana Anderson matched that score while placing fifth.

Anna Koisti completed Hamlin’s team tally with a 49, putting her in sixth.

Rounding out the Cossacks’ score, Madisyn Christensen shot 54 and Rachel Cotton 55.

Boys

Hamlin and Arlington/Lake Preston both shot 138 to share the team championship, with Castlewood (147) finishing third.

The Chargers’ Devan Weelbord fired a 42 to earn medalist honors.

The Badgers’ Haydn Gilbertson was runner-up after carding a 43.

Hamlin’s Carson Pedersen (45), Florence/Henry’s Jeff Wanner (45) and ALP’s Scott Sampson (46) were third through fifth, respectively.

Will Parry rounded out the Badgers’ team tally with a 49. He took eighth.

The Chargers’ third score was a 51, as Connor Bawdon and Renner Uecker both posted that number.
