Hamlin tops Deubrook Area on the road

WHITE – Hamlin dropped Deubrook Area 62-50 in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday.

The Chargers led 18-14 after a period but trailed 29-28 at half. They grabbed a 48-41 advantage heading to the fourth.

Nathan Holida scored 19, Kyler Swenson 10 and Jackson Noem and Nash Grantham both eight.

The Dolphins’ Andrew Trooien finished with 15 markers. Mason Ramlo and Parker Crooks both added 10.

Both teams return to action Friday, with Deubrook (4-13) playing host to Elkton-Lake Benton and Hamlin (6-10) welcoming Redfield.

 Waverly-South Shore 60, Lake Preston 50

LAKE PRESTON – The Coyotes outscored the Divers 21-10 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

WSS (7-8) led 20-15 after a quarter and 32-27 at halftime. Lake Preston was ahead 40-39 through three.

Austin Applehoff scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Carter Comes added 18 and eight boards. Sam Dalton posted 12 markers.

The Divers’ Carter Malone dropped in 23 points and added eight boards and five steals. Jasper Denison had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Lake Preston (7-10) is host to Colman-Egan on Friday.

 Waubay/Summit 71, Estelline/Hendricks 56

ESTELLINE – The Mustangs led 24-19 after a quarter, 39-27 at halftime and 53-45 at the end of three.

Joey Johnston finished with a game-high 20 points for WS (9-9). Damon Opdahl had 12 points and Tate Gaikowski 10 to go with eight rebounds.

The Redhawks got 12 points from Dawson Bury and 11 by Marcis Hausman. Spencer Lutz chipped in with nine markers and Joseph McAninch eight.

EH (6-10) is host to Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Thursday.


 Waverly-South Shore 51, Lake Preston 28

LAKE PRESTON – The Coyotes built a 22-4 lead after a quarter and were up 38-9 at halftime.

Emily Kranz posted a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds for WSS (12-4). Carly Heuer added 16 points.

The Divers’ Ashlyn DeKnikker had 15 points, eight steals and six rebounds.

Lake Preston (3-15) is host to Colman-Egan on Friday.
