BROOKINGS – A handgun was stolen from an unlocked camper Wednesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The theft of the 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol was reported at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and occurred at 3250 Western Ave. S. No. 22 in rural Brookings, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“The pistol was stolen from an unlocked camper outside of the residence” sometime between 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sebring said.
“The upper receiver of the pistol is silver in color and the hand grip is black. The pistol was not loaded and did not contain a magazine,” Sebring said.
The pistol is valued at $500.
