Hansen: Reed is a strong leader

Letter to the editor

Over the last 17 years, Tim Reed has served this community in a variety of ways. First as a city councilor, then as mayor, and now as District 7 state representative. Over the last four years, while serving as District 7 state representative, Tim has been an advocate for education, local control, economic development and sexual assault victims.

One of the things I appreciate about Tim is the fact that he approaches each topic with an open mind. He is willing to listen, learn about the issue at hand, and look at both sides. After all of that, Tim does what he feels is best for District 7 and its residents.

While serving on City Council with Tim, I had the opportunity to see how much this community meant to him. I saw how he was able to bring people together, facilitate a conversation and find areas of compromise.

I saw someone who valued strategic planning and was able to put plans into action. I saw someone who was not afraid to tackle problems head-on, always willing to look at new and innovative solutions, not just doing things a certain way because that is how we have always done them.

Most importantly, I saw someone who served the public because it was the right thing to do, not just because of the title that came along with the position. For all of those reasons, and more, I have decided to support Tim Reed and his campaign for District 7 state representative, and I ask that you do the same.
