Hawks, Beaverettes, Warriors advance

Colman-Egan, Howard, Hanson and Ethan all advanced to the semifinals Tuesday in the Region 4B. 

Castlewood, Deubrook Area, De Smet and Estelline/Hendricks advanced in Region 3B.

Region 4B

 Colman-Egan 42, Dell Rapids St. Mary 32

COLMAN – The Hawks led the entire game and advanced to the semifinals of the Region 4B Playoffs.
Colman-Egan led 11-7 at end of the first and 18-14 at halftime. They then outscored DSRM 12-8 in the third and increased their lead to 10 midway through the fourth and didn’t look back.

The Hawks were led by Mackenzie Hemmer who had 21 points and nine rebounds. Braiden Westley had 13 points and seven rebounds. Ella Griffin led the Cardinals with eight points and five rebounds. Courtney Brown had seven points and seven rebounds. Ella Heinitz and Addy Gilbert each had five points.

The Hawks had a tough night shooting as they shot 25.5% from the field and were 2-16 from three. But they held the Cardinals to 20.5% shooting from the field and DRSM was 5-21 from three. CE forced 22 turnovers on the night and outrebounded DRSM 42-31.

Colman-Egan will take on Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in Huron. Howard topped Mitchell Christian 46-25 on Tuesday night.

 Hanson 57, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 40

HANSON – The Beaverettes used a big second quarter to advance to the semifinals.

Hanson led 18-14 after the first quarter, but outscored the Battlehawks 14-5 in the second quarter. They led 42-31 at the end of the third quarter and then cruised to victory.

The Beaverettes were led by Morgan Huber who had 17 points. Annalyse Weber had 10 points and five steals. Shelby Hernandez had 10 points and Vanessa Doyle had nine.

Trista White led SCW with 11 points. Mariah Jost had eight points. Trinity Boschee had five assists and three steals. The Battlehawks shot 35% from the field and had 21 rebounds. Hanson shot 47% from the field and had 23 rebounds. They forced SCW into 23 turnovers.

Hanson will face Ethan at Thursday at 6 p.m. in Huron. Ethan defeated Chester Area 63-22 Tuesday night.

Region 3B

• Castlewood 54, Wolsey-Wessington 28

CASTLEWOOD – The Warriors rolled to a quarterfinal victory over the Lady Warbirds.

Mackenzie Everson led Castlewood with 20 points. Alayna Benike had 17 points Darah Dekam had 11. Wolsey-Wessington was led by Mya Boomsma who had eight points. Lizzi Brandt had seven points and Cortney Sprecher had six points. 

Castlewood shot 40.7% from the field and was 2-22 from three. They held WW to 29.3% shooting from the field and the Lady Warbirds were 3-19 from three.

The Warriors will face Deubrook Area, who beat Arlington 33-26 Tuesday, at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Huron. No other  stats were available from Region 3B.
