Hawks, Dolphins advance to DVC Championship

ARLINGTON/ESTELLINE – Colman-Egan beat Dell Rapids St. Mary 54-32 and Deubrook Area topped Arlington 50-36 in the semifinals of the Dakota Valley Conference Girls’ Basketball Tournament on Friday night.

Place games are today in Colman, including the host Hawks’ matchup with the Dolphins in the final at 8 p.m.

Semifinals

 Colman-Egan 54, Dell Rapids St. Mary 32

The Hawks opened up a 19-6 lead after a quarter and were up 32-13 at halftime in the win over the Cardinals.

Colman-Egan shot 51.1 percent (23-of-45) from the field and made half of its 14 attempts from 3-point range.

Mackenzie Hemmer scored 13 points, Braiden Westley 11, Jordan Wittrock nine and Josie Mousel eight.

DRSM’s Courtney Brown had 11 markers.

 Deubrook Area 50, Arlington 36

Baylee Holmlund dropped in 25 points, grabbed six rebounds and came up with four steals to lead the Dolphins to the victory.

Emma Vandermeer had seven points and Andrea’ Vandermeer (seven steals) and Emma Sheffield both contributed five.

Deubrook was up 22-9 after a quarter, 34-24 at halftime and 45-28 heading to the final stanza.

Arlington’s Harley Johnson totaled 15 points. Hadley Carlson had 12 points and nine boards.

Consolation semifinals

• Estelline/Hendricks 47, Elkton-Lake Benton 17

The Redhawks led 20-5 after a quarter and pushed the advantage to 38-6 at halftime.

Kate Wegner and Faith VanMeveren both had 11 points. Sophie Johnson pitched in with eight markers, Kylie Beare tallied seven and Kaylee Faehnrich notched five.

ELB went 4-of-48 (8.3%) from the field.

Lake Preston defeated Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 49-38 in the other consolation semifinal.
