Hawks fall at Culver’s Classic

MITCHELL – Corsica-Stickney beat Colman-Egan 48-35 in a boys’ basketball game at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday evening at the Corn Palace.

Reserve Jaden Barse scored 12 points, Bryce Plamp 10, Jacob Joachim nine and Landon DeBoer eight for the Jaguars (14-2), who currently lead Region 6B in seed points.

Corsica-Stickney led 12-4 after a quarter, 26-11 at halftime and 35-22 through three.

The Hawks got 12 points and seven rebounds from Kade Groos. Keith Crisp added nine points and Dalton Voelker contributed eight.

Colman-Egan (13-5), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped, closes out the regular season with home games against Dell Rapids St. Mary today and Canistota on Friday.

 Flandreau 68, Clark/Willow Lake 52

The Fliers jumped out to a 17-9 lead after a quarter and then pulled away in the fourth to cruise to a 68-52 Lake Central Conference victory over Clark/Willow Lake on Saturday night.

Dylan LeBrun posted a huge double-double of 37 points and 12 rebounds to go along with five assists as Flandreau improved to 12-5 on the season and 3-2 in the conference. Connor LeBrun added 20 points while Nate Kneebone pulled down eight boards and Nate Cloud chipped in with five steals, four rebounds and four assists.

Jacob Prouty led the Cyclones, 14-4 and 4-2 in the LCC, with 22 points as Bradyn Rusher contributed 12.

On Tuesday, the Fliers play host to Baltic in a Big East Conference matchup.


 S.F. O’Gorman 55, Brookings 50, OT

SIOUX FALLS – The Bobcats dropped to 8-8 with the 55-50 overtime loss to the Lady Knights on Saturday night.

On Tuesday, Brookings plays host to Aberdeen Central. 

 Flandreau 57, Clark/Willow Lake 53

WILLOW LAKE – The Fliers knocked down 3-of-5 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Cyclones for a four-point Lake Central Conference win on Saturday night.

Flandreau led at each quarter break – 13-10 after one; 29-26 at halftime; and 42-39 through three – to improve to 13-6 overall and 3-3 in the LCC.

Hannah Parsley led all scorers with 27 points as Kathy Parsley, Ashtyn Bertram and Makenzey Burgrraff added six points apiece. Tishara Hardy chipped in with five points on a 3-pointer and 2-of-3 from the foul line while Mara Lunday contributed four and Brooke Iott went 1-for-2 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Janae Kolden finished with 24 points for the Cyclones, who dropped to 8-10 on the season and 0-5 in conference play. Abbie Bratland added eight points and Saylor Burke came off the bench to notch seven.

On Tuesday, Flandreau closes out the regular season with a home game against Baltic.

 Castlewood 60, Arlington 40

ARLINGTON – Abbey Strait finished with 14 points, Alayna Benike and Darah DeKam both added 13 and Regan Benike contributed 12 as the Warriors topped the Cardinals.

Regan Benike added seven rebounds and four assists.

Arlington got 10 points from Jeryn Christensen. Madysn Gilbertson chipped in with eight points and Makayla Nelson seven to go with six boards.

Castlewood (15-2) is host to Sioux Valley on Tuesday. Arlington (7-12) closes out the regular season that night with a home game against Chester Area.


• Elkton-Lake Benton 64, Dell Rapids St. Mary 54

DELL RAPIDS – Callie Otkin dropped in 26 points as the Lady Elks defeated the Cardinals in a Dakota Valley Conference game.

ELB was up 20-7 after a quarter, 32-23 at halftime and 47-40 through three.

Samantha Schindler added 13 points and Aubrey Wirth pitched in with 10.

Ella Heinitz paced DRSM with 19 points and Maddie Schwebach contributed 18.

ELB (12-6, 5-3) is host to Lake Preston and DRSM (8-10, 2-5) travels to Colman-Egan on Tuesday.

• Lake Preston 75, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 21

LAKE PRESTON – Lexie Larsen scored 26 points, Meriah Flegel 18 and Lindsay Hillestad 17 as the Divers topped the Raiders in a DVC matchup.

Lake Preston led 20-8 after a quarter, 50-14 at halftime and 64-18 through three.

ORR’s Khloe Tieman had 11 markers.

On Tuesday, ORR (1-16, 0-7) is host to Deubrook in Oldham and Lake Preston (11-8, 4-4) closes the regular season at Elkton-Lake Benton.
