Colman-Egan and Estelline/Hendricks each picked up wins in volleyball on Thursday night. The Hawks beat Elkton-Lake Benton in five sets and the Redhawks beat Deubrook Area in four sets.
• Colman-Egan 3, Elkton-Lake Benton 2
The Hawks improved to 11-1 with the five-set win.
The two teams split the first two sets with ELB taking the first 25-18 and C-E winning the second 25-13. The Lady Elks would go up 2-1 with a 25-18 win in the third set, but the Hawks forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth. The Hawks then dominated the final set with a 15-4 victory and won the match.
Mackenzie Hemmer and Hailey Larson each had big nights for C-E. Hemmer had 25 kills and 18 digs, while Larson had 26 digs and 16 kills.
Ava Mousel had 27 assists and 18 digs for the Hawks. Daniela Lee had 14 digs and seven kills. Berkley Groos had 18 digs and Lanie Mousel had 12 assists.
Rachael Krog led the way for ELB with 19 digs and 11 kills. Kylie Ramlo had 15 kills digs and nine kills. Kailyn Dreitz had 11 digs and eight kills.
Tevan Erickson had 37 assists, 21 digs and five kills for the Lady Elks. Kayla Goertz had 24 digs and Kinsley Krog had nine. Madisyn Nielsen had nine kills and Aubree Bales had eight.
The Lady Elks are now 5-7. Both teams play in the Sanford Pentagon Tournament this Saturday in Sioux Falls.
• Estelline/Hendricks 3, Deubrook Area 1
The Redhawks won the first two sets and didn’t look back as they improved to 9-6 on the season.
Estelline/Hendricks won the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-21. Deubrook would win the third set 25-14, but the Redhawks shut the Dolphins down in the fourth set with a 25-17 victory and won the game.
Kate Wegner had 13 kills and 21 digs for the Redhawks. Sadie Johnson had 36 assists and 25 digs. Heidi Nicola had 23 digs and Kenzy Beare had 11 kills and six blocks. Brooke Johnson and Rachel Hexem each had six kills.
Emma Vandermeer had 10 kills and four blocks for the Dolphins. Miranda Moravetz had 18 digs and Delaney Pederson had 16. Hanna Kjelden had seven kills and Taylor Ekern had 10 digs.
The Redhawks play Tiospa Zina on Sept. 28 in Hendricks. The Dolphins are now 7-6 and play in the James Valley Christian Tournament on Saturday.
