She attended country school for elementary grades and graduated in 1936 from Egan High School. She graduated from General Beadle Teachers College in Madison in 1938, as she loved children.

She married Eivend Poverud on Feb. 24, 1947, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Flandreau. She taught school in Egan and Glendale Township School in rural Napoleon, N.D. They had a daughter, Dianne. They lived on the family farm in rural Napoleon for about eight years before moving to Pico Rivera, Calif., in September 1955. In 1985 she moved back to Flandreau to be near her sisters, Mable and Bernice. The “Paulson Girls,” as they were called, were together almost every day for about 20 years in their later years.
