Herdliska named Academic All-Summit League

ELMHURST, Ill. -- South Dakota State's Ali Herdliska has been named to the 2017 Academic All-Summit League team, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Herdliska, a two-time All-Summit League First Team selection, holds a 3.56 grade point average in childhood education and earned the nod in recognition of her combined athletic and academic performances this season.

The Solon, Iowa, native started all 54 games for the Jacks this season, splitting time between first, second and third bases. She led the team in nearly every offensive category, hitting .338 (54 for 160) with 18 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 36 runs batted in and 18 walks. She led the conference and ranked among the national leaders in doubles, and is No. 2 on State's single-season record list. Herdliska put together a team-best 14 multi-hit games and had multiple RBIs on 11 occasions.

To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League Team, as voted on by the institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
