High school gymnastics: Brookings Bobcats compete at first dual in Huron

HURON – The Brookings Bobcats competed in the first meet of the season on Tuesday night, traveling to Huron for an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual and defeating the Tigers 130.400-122.100.

Layla Erickson led the Bobcats with a score of 9.250 on the vault while Tayla Dobrenski finished second with a score of 8.700. Jessica Fourney had a score of 8.650 while Ava Petterson had a score of 8.300 and Amber Brockberg had a score of 7.700.

Cameron Ruth had the top score for Huron in the vault with a score of 8.500. Adison Gross and Maya Hein had matching scores of 8.400 while Eastlyn Eichstadt had a score of 8.350 and Katelyn Radke had a score of 7.800.

Erickson had the top score for Brookings in the uneven parallel bars earning a mark of 8.450. Dobrenski had a score of 8.250, Brockberg had a score of 7.700, Fourney had a score of 7.600 and Petterson had a score of 7.500.

Ruth led Huron with a score of 8.050 in the uneven parallel bars, Eichstadt had a score of 7.300, Hein had a score of 6.850 and Radke had a score of 5.800.

Fourney had the top score for Brookings on the balance beam with a score of 7.950. Erickson and Petterson had matching scores of 7.750 and Brockberg had a score of 7.500.

Eichstadt had the best score for Huron on the balance beam with a score of 8.350. Radke had a score of 7.350, Maria Wilson had a score of 7.150, Hein had a score of 6.800 and Gross had a score of 5.600.

Fourney had the best score for Brookings in the floor exercise with a score of 8.500. Erickson finished with a score of 8.300, Brockberg had a score of 8.050 and Petterson had a score of 7.700.

Ruth led Huron with a score of 7.950 in the floor exercise with a score of 7.950. Eichstadt had a score of 7.700, Gross had a score of 7.550 while Hein and Wilson had matching scores of 6.900.

Erickson had the best all-around score for Brookings in the dual with a score of 33.750. Fourney was second with a score of 32.700, Petterson was third with a score of 31.250, Brockberg was fourth with a score of 30.950 and Dobrenski finished with a score of 16.950.

Eichstadt had the best all-around score for Huron at 31.700, Hein finished at 28.950, Gross finished with a score of 28.050, Ruth finished with a score of 24.500, Radke finished with a score of 20.950 and Wilson finished with a score of 14.050.

The Bobcats will compete next on Saturday for an Invitational at Sioux Falls Jefferson.
