

High school soccer: Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots sweep Brookings Bobcats in doubleheader

SIOUX FALLS — The Brookings Bobcats came up short on both ends of a doubleheader, dropping two games to the Sioux Falls Patriots on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats will look to rebound when they host Pierre for a doubleheader at the Fishback Soccer Complex in Brookings on Thursday night.
Girls
• Sioux Falls Lincoln 3, Brookings 2
The Bobcats jumped ahead to an early lead against the Patriots as Abby Mohs scored on a penalty shot in the 21st minute. Mohs got buried another penalty kick in the 38th minute to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead but Sioux Falls Lincoln rallied for three unanswered goals in the second half.
Lily Dahler put the Patriots on the board with a goal on a free kick outside of 18 feet in the 43rd minute and Marie Horsted tied the game with her goal in the 47th minute. WIth the game squared up, Cali Doohen scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to lead the Patriots to victory.
Brookings had eight total shots on the night with seven on goal. Mohs had four shots on goal, Desirae Johnson had one shot on goal, Elise Lefers had two shots on goal and Aubrey Knutzen had one shot.
Ashley Rients started in net and made seven saves on 10 shots in the loss.
The Bobcats fell to 2-7 on the season with the loss.
Boys
• Sioux Falls Lincoln 5, Brookings 0
Tony Nguyen made nine saves for the Bobcats while Forrest Giard had three shots on goal in the loss. Rylan Eide, Dominic Van Hofwegen and Brayden Schreiber each had one shot on goal.
The Bobcats fell to 4-5 on the year with the loss.
