

High school volleyball: Arlington Cardinals, Colman-Egan Hawks pick up victories

Arlington and Colman-Egan came away with victories in volleyball on Tuesday night. The Cardinals swept Waverly-South Shore and the Hawks defeated McCook Central-Montrose in four sets.

ARLINGTON — The Cardinals made quick work of the Coyotes as they beat them by scores of 25-6, 25-10 and 25-14.
Jo Steffensen led the way for Arlington with seven kills, nine digs and seven aces. Harley Johnson had seven kills and 14 digs. Addie Steffensen had nine kills and Isabelle had 28 assists.
Arlington is now 4-7 on the season and will host Castlewood on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Cardinals will then play in the Lake Preston Invitational on Saturday.

COLMAN — The Hawks lost the first set but then won three straight to get the victory over the Fighting Cougars.
Colman-Egan won the second set 25-16 and the third set 25-17. The Hawks and Cougars then battled in the fourth set and it was the Hawks that came out victorious, 29-27.
The Hawks were led by Daniela Lee who had 19 digs and 14 kills. Brynlee Landis 17 digs, 12 kills, 3.5 blocks and two aces. Kaylee Voelker had 18 assists and 14 digs. Lanie Mousel had 23 assists and Presley Luze had 14 digs. Elaina Rhode had five kills and Anna Zwart had four kills and four blocks.
The Cougars were led by Abby Wagner who had 10 kills. Lexie Lunders had 21 digs and Ashtyn DeKnikker had 13 digs. Maddy Lauck had 20 assists and Kayla Vander Woude had seven kills.
Colman-Egan is now 5-1 overall and hosts Iroquois/Lake Preston on Thursday at 6 p.m.
