High school volleyball: ELB, Deubrook, Arlington all come away with sweeps

Three area teams picked up sweeps in volleyball on Tuesday night. Elkton-Lake Benton continued its winning streak with a sweep over West Central, Deubrook Area swept Milbank and Arlington came away with a sweep over Deuel.

High school volleyball: ELB, Deubrook, Arlington all come away with sweeps

Three area teams picked up sweeps in volleyball on Tuesday night. Elkton-Lake Benton continued its winning streak with a sweep over West Central, Deubrook Area swept Milbank and Arlington came away with a sweep over Deuel.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland was able to pull out a win over James Valley Christian in four sets and Sioux Valley was swept by Hamlin in other area action.

 Elkton-Lake Benton 3, West Central 0

ELKTON – The Elks won in a sweep for the seventh straight match and won their ninth straight match overall. ELB is now 18-2 on the season and holds the No. 1 spot in the Class A standings.

The scores of the three-set sweep were 25-9, 25-15 and 25-22.

Rachael Krog led the way for the Elks with eight kills and 15 digs. Kailyn Drietz had nine kills and nine digs. Kylie Ramlo had 12 digs and five kills. Andrea Renkly had nine kills and Tevan Erickson had 31 assists.

Joclyn Neilson led West Central with 14 digs. Kaia Gabbert had 12 digs and Ellie Lienhard had eight assists. Stormee Kline six kills and Abree Miller had five kills. 

ELB will travel to White on Thursday to take on Deubrook Area. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

 Deubrook Area 3, Milbank 0

WHITE – The Dolphins won their for the eighth time in their last nine matches and improved to 11-6 on the year. The set scores were 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.

Brooke Koppatscheck led the Dolphins with 23 assists and eight kills. Miranda Moravetz had 12 kills and 10 digs. Delaney Pedersen had 19 digs and Taylor Ekern had 15 digs. Zoey Milengraaf had 11 kills and Skyla Petersen had eight kills. Ellie Koenig had 10 digs and nine assists.

Rachel Schulte had nine kills and 15 digs for Milbank. Emily Jo Wollschlager and Averie Engebretson each had 17 digs. Engebretson also had 17 assists.

Deubrook hosts ELB on Thursday.

 Arlington 3, Deuel 0

ALINGTON – The Cardinals won for the 12th time in the 13 matches and improved to 15-8 on the season. They won the three sets by scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-13.

Tanaya Weiss had 29 assists and seven digs to lead Arlington. Harley Johnson had nine kills, seven digs and four aces. Addie Steffensen had 10 kills.

The Cardinals play at Sioux Valley next on Oct. 11. First serven is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 3, James Valley Christian 1

RAMONA – The Raiders improved to 10-7 with the win over the Lady Vikings. They won the first two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-22. JVC then forced a fourth set with a 25-12 win before ORR put things away with a 25-17 victory in set four.

Julia Trygstad led the Raiders with 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks. Alivia Bickett had 13 digs and seven kills. Bailey Hyland had six kills and Brooklyn Hageman had seven assists. Paige Hanson had 12 assists and Camlin Schneider had three aces.

Kaylie Robinson had 12 kills and 11 assists to lead the Lady Vikings. Alexa Goertz and Regan Rink each had 10 kills. Daril Frandsen had 13 assists and Colleen Wipf had 21 digs.

ORR will head to De Smet on Thursday and will play the Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m.

 Hamlin 3, Sioux Valley 0

HAYTI – The final set-score does not reflect how close the match was as the Cossacks fell to the Chargers 25-23, 25-20 and 25-19.

Landree Wilson led Sioux Valley with 11 kills and seven digs. Kaedyn Sapp had nine kills and six digs. Ashley Bjerke had 15 assists, 10 digs and five kills. Talya Vincent had 19 digs, Adison Renkly had seven digs and Sunny Hesby had eight assists. 

The Chargers were led by Ally Abraham who had 19 kills. Gracelyn Leiseth had 19 kills and Ava Prouty had 21 digs. Kami Wadsworth had 38 assists and seven digs. Marissa Bawdon had 18 digs and Addison Neuendorf had 10 digs.

Sioux Valley is now 14-6 and will return home Friday night for a matchup against Deubrook Area. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
