High school wrestling: Flandreau go 2-1 at home quad

The Flandreau Fliers picked up a pair of wins as they defeated Virborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda and Chester Area before losing to Hamlin/Castlewood at the Flandreau quad on Tuesday night.

• Flandreau 30, Virborg-Hurley/Irene-Waskonda 6

Flandreau’s Justin Klein picked up a win at 152 pounds, defeating Maxx Holm by fall at 1:38. Caleb Pitsenberger won at 170 pounds, defeating Jaksen Olson by fall at 2:47. Karter Headrick won at 182 pounds, defeating Trevor Ryan by fall at 1:13. Teague Bergjord (106 pounds) and Brayden Wiese (132 pounds) won by forfeit.

VIHIW’s Jacob Johnson won by forfeit at 220 pounds. The dual had double forfeits at 113 pounds, 120 pounds, 126 pounds, 138 pounds, 145 pounds, 160 pounds, 195 pounds and 285 pounds.

• Flandreau 30, Chester Area 24

Bergjord scored a victory for Flandreau at 106 pounds, defeating Carter Leibeg by fall at 1:00. Klein picked up a win at 152 pounds, defeating Arien Stalford by fall at 1:03. Pitsenberger won at 160 pounds, defeating Marcus Johnson by fall at 35 seconds. Wiese (138 pounds) and Headrick (182 pounds) won by forfeit for the Fliers.

Connor Peterson (113 pounds), Jacob Foster (120 pounds) and Daniel Swenson (126 pounds) won by forfeit for Chester Area.

The dual had a double forfeit at 145 pounds, 170 pounds, 195 pounds, 220 pounds and 285 pounds.

• Hamlin/Castlewood 42, Flandreau 21

Klein won at 152 pounds for Flandreau defeating Tate Everson by fall at 39 seconds. Pitsenberger won at 160 pounds, defeating Troy Randall Jr. by a 9-4 decision. Weise (132 pounds) and Headrick (182 pounds) won by forfeit.

Brody Randall picked up a win for Hamlin/Castlewood at 106 pounds, defeating Bergjord by fall at 1:17. Brock Gisselbeck won at 145 pounds, defeating Jayden Lange by fall at 39 seconds. Cayden Johnson (113 pounds), Rylan Yonker (120 pounds), Gage Talsma (126 pounds) John Yonker (138 pounds) won by forfeit.

Matches at 195 pounds and 220 pounds were declared a double forfeit.

The Fliers will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Howard for the Ken Ruml Invite.
