BROOKINGS – Before the rain moved in, sunny skies welcomed thousands of spectators to the annual Hobo Day parade through the South Dakota State University campus and Brookings Saturday morning. The parade featured beauty queens, dignitaries, politicians, marching bands, student groups and hobos galore.
Above, the tuba section was bringing up the rear for the Pride of the Dakotas as members took a breather from their music, chanting “sober up” as they marched along Medary Avenue.
Below, graduate nursing education students claimed the prize for best overall float in the 2017 parade.
Roads, sidewalks and boulevards were crowded all along the parade route, especially on Main Avenue in downtown Brookings, where spectators are shown watching fire trucks roll down the street.
