Home hit by burglar

BROOKINGS – More than $2,000 worth of items were stolen from a house Tuesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft was reported at 8 p.m. Tuesday and occurred in the 3200 block of Heather Lane in rural Brookings, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“The owner of the home advised that they had left the residence unlocked when they left for work on Tuesday at 8 a.m. The owner advised that when they returned home at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, they found several items missing from the home,” Sebring said.

Stolen were an Xbox One S, white in color, two Xbox games (Madden 2018, NBA2K), Wii (white in color), acoustic guitar (mahogany in color with a hard case), Dyson vacuum, trombone, Husqvarna gas leaf blower and a Comcast connector. 

“The estimated value of the items stolen is $2,200,” Sebring said.
