BROOKINGS – Three longtime Brookings School District employees and one longtime friend of education were among the honorees at last week’s Brookings School District and the Brookings Education Association 2018-2019 Teacher and Staff Recognition event at Brookings High School.

Above from left, Diane Broksieck of Hillcrest Elementary School, Kathy Entwistle of Camelot Intermediate School and Dawn McCarthy of Mickelson Middle School were recognized for 25 years of service.

Below center, Jan Stange of the Brookings Great After School Place was named this year’s BEA Friend of Education. She’s pictured with her son, Jon, left, and husband, Ken. Jan Stange was lauded for providing the community safe and affordable before- and after-school child care. She’s been involved in GAP since its beginning in 1989 as a board member, board president and then program coordinator, growing the program from 30 students to 300 students at five different locations in the city.

The recognition ceremony was preceded by a social in the BHS Commons, featuring entertainment from BHS musicians and food from ProStart students and sponsor First Bank & Trust.
