Horse barn destroyed in blaze

WHITE – A barn was a total loss after a Thursday fire, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 10:45 a.m. Thursday near 473rd Avenue and 202nd Street in rural White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“The barn was empty with no livestock in it at the time of the fire,” he said.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature. The 40x30 (foot)  horse barn was a complete loss with an estimated cost of $10,000 to replace,” Sebring said.

Also responding were the White Fire Department and White Ambulance.

The fire is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
