Hot tub starts on fire

WHITE – A hot tub caught fire Thursday and winds spread the flames, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 8:35 p.m. Thursday in rural White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“It was found that a hot rub that is located outside of the residence had caught fire. Due to the high winds, the fire spread to the outside of the home, causing damage to the vinyl siding,” Sebring said.

“The cost to replace the hot tub is $5,000. The damage to the home is unknown at this time,” he added.

The White Fire Department also responded. 

The fire is under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
