Crowds turn out for annual car show, Old Timers Day

Maurice Monahan, left, and car owner Gary Dusharm of Brookings discuss some of the attributes of his well-appointed and maintained 1931 Model A Ford during the Sunday afternoon showing and judging at the 25th annual Brookings Car Show in Pioneer Park.

An overnight deluge left the park boggy in spots, but sunshine finally prevailed. Weather did not deter spectators from turning out to see and talk about the more than 110 automobiles of every age, make, model and color.

Vehicles of all kinds were also on display throughout Old Timers Day in Volga last weekend. Plenty of motorcyclists turned out for the first #RickStrong Stroke Awareness Poker Run. A piece of farm equipment was spraying water and cooling spectators off during the annual Old Timers parade, which also featured floats, classic cars, fire trucks, a covered wagon and more.
