Hulberg breaks own school record in pole vault

HARRISBURG – Bobcat senior Erin Hulberg broke her own school record in the pole vault during a dual against the Tigers on Friday evening.

She cleared 10 feet, 9 inches.

Rachel Gannon won the triple jump with a mark of 35 feet, 5 1/2 inches and the long jump at 16-11. The distances rank fourth and seventh, respectively, in school history.

Amari Ward, Maddix Archer, Riley Weisbeck and Landree Wilson placed first in the 4x100-meter relay in 50.6 seconds.

Ward, Weisbeck, Ella Kjelden and Allie Clark took the 4x200 with a 1:49.95 clocking.

Clark, Ella Kjelden, Emerson Kjelden and Archer crossed first in the 4x400 at 4:19.81.

Wilson won the 200-meter dash in 26.44 seconds.

Also posting victories were Cherish Stern in the 800 (2:40.29), Ashton Scott in the 1,600 (6:47.84) and Tayla Dobrenski in the high jump (4-8).

On the boys’ side, Parker Theobald swept the throws – discus (147-10) and shot put (49-2 1/2).

Noah Bayer, Tyson Brandt, Junior Eberline and Joey Williams won the 4x200 in 1:33.88.

Nick Diersen, Brandt, Talon Everding and Sam Conrad won the 4x400 in 3:37.18.

Adding victories were Conrad in the 800 (2:02.18), Trey Svennes in the 400 (55.35) and Carter Johnson in the triple jump (41-6 3/4).

Saturday

RUNNING ELK

ELKTON – The Elkton-Lake Benton boys and Canton girls claimed team titles at the Running Elk Relays on Saturday.

Boys

The host Elks totaled 170.5 team points to edge Sioux Valley (166).

Flandreau (100) was fourth.

ELB’s Jack Hemmen won the shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 6 1/2 inches.

Riley Hunter cleared 9-6 in the pole vault.

The Cossacks had a pair of double winners.

Kelton Vincent placed first in the 400 meters in 55 seconds and the 800 with a 2:13 clocking.

Colby Gatzke took the 1,600 (5:04) and 3,200 (11:22.9) crowns.

Jakob Guthmiller won the triple jump at 37-3 3/4. Kashas Vanderwal placed first in the discus with a throw of 125-8.

Boden Schiller, Oliver Vincent, Jaxton Schiller and Connor Gross won the 4x200-meter relay in 1:39.4.

The Fliers’ Johnny Deloera, Bradon Weber, Alex Anderson and Lane Johanson claimed first in the 4x100 with a time of 47.7. Liam Streitz, Tanner Reed, Austin Kulm and Sam Gassman won the 4x800 in 9:08.2.

Girls

Canton had 177.5 team points, as the Cossacks (150) were second, the Elks (64) fifth and the Fliers (36) sixth.

Sioux Valley’s Reagan Johnson won the 100 (13.5) and 200 (28.3).

Kamryn Schwartz took the triple jump with a mark of 33-8.

Kayla Klocker, Kalista King, Schwartz and Johnson won the 4x100 in 54.7. Klocker King, Adison Renkly and Schwartz were second in the 4x200 with a 1:57.4 clocking.

Kendra Hiltunen, Talya Vincent, Caitlin Russell and Ashley Bjerke won the 4x800 in 11:26.3.

ELB’s Tevan Erickson posted victories in the 300-meter hurdles (52.9 seconds) and pole vault (7-6).

Flandreau’s Libby Hursey broke the tape in the 800 with a time of 2:32.9.

Friday

DAN BARKER RELAYS

MADISON – The Colman-Egan girls totaled 126 team points to take fourth.

Madison (143), West Central (134) and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (132) claimed the top three spots.

The Hawks’ Josie Mousel was Class B MVP.

She cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to win the high jump and was runner-up in the 100 meters in 13.06 seconds -- .04 behind the top spot.

Mackenzie Hemmer won the triple jump with a mark of 34-3 3/4.
