HURON – The host Tigers won six consecutive matches in the middle weights to top Brookings 55-24 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference wrestling dual Tuesday night.
Jallele Jenkins opened the dual with a 10-8 decision over Nolan Archer at 106 pounds to stake the Tigers to an early 3-0 lead.
The Bobcats’ Connor Klinkhammer won by forfeit at 113 and Jaxon Bowes pinned Aung Win in 3:41 at 120 to put Brookings up 12-3.
The Tigers took advantage of a three pins (Daynon Huber at 132, Chipper Shillingstad at 145 and TahJae Jenkins Harris at 152), two forfeits (126 and 138) and a major decision (Matthew Katz at 152) to score 34 unanswered points and grab a 37-12 advantage.
Brookings’ Jacob Schoon pinned Travis Kleinsasser in 3:39 in the 170-pound matchup.
Wyatt Larsen sealed the dual victory by pinning Logan Bowes in 1:31 at 182. Gabriel Larsen (182) added a win by fall and the Bobcats were open at 220.
In the 285-pound bout, the Bobcats’ Tucker Christie put Sebastian Cardona on his back in 2:26 to round things out.
Brookings (0-1, 0-1) competes in the Madison Tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m.
