BROOKINGS – Above, hosts of India Night 2017, held last Sunday in South Dakota State University’s Volstorff Ballroom, hold United States and Indian flags at the annual event.

India Night organizers hosted around 600 people, which is an all-time high. Food lines were long, with traditional dishes including matar paneer, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, navratan korma, biryani, naan, and gulab jamun with ice cream.
Cultural presentations included classical and semi-classical dance. Then small kids represented their states of India, sharing what is famous there and why is that state famous.
Those who worked hard to organize the evening walked across the stage in traditional Indian clothes and thanked all the guests for coming and enjoying this event. It was held under the supervision of Dr. Omathanu Perumal from SDSU’s Chemistry Department.
