Items stolen from unlocked vehicles

BROOKINGS – A number of items, including dozens of Hydrocodone pills and a disc golf bag, were stolen out of two unlocked vehicles last week, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The break-ins were reported at 7:35 a.m. Saturday and occurred in the 200 block of 37th Street South and the 100 block of 38th Street South in rural Brookings, said Sgt. Jon Pike.

“An undisclosed amount of cash, a bottle of 90 Hydrocodone pills, and a pair of black Fossil sunglasses valued at $50 was stolen from one of the vehicles,” Pike said.

“The other vehicle had a pack of cigarettes and lighter, and a black with yellow lettering Innova brand disc golf bag containing 24 Innova brand discs, 16 green and eight white. Some of the discs also had the owner’s name and phone number on them. The Innova bag and discs are valued at $540,” he said.

The thefts are believed to have occurred between midnight and when they were noticed at 7 a.m. Saturday, he added.
