GREENSBORO, Ga. – The South Dakota State women’s golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of play at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Georgia.

The Jackrabbits have a team score of 311 (+23) through the first 18 holes of play. Host team Mercer and Auburn lead the 14-team field tied for first with 293(+5), while East Carolina and UNC-Wilmington are tied for third (303).

“We were unable to play a practice round due to significant rainfall, so we learned a lot about the course today,” said assistant golf coach Maggie Murphy. “We had a few tough stretches, but I’m proud of the way the team hung in there and battled. We look forward to getting after it tomorrow.”
