AMES, Iowa – The South Dakota State swimming and diving team sits in seventh place with 40 points on the men’s side through Day 1 at the Hawkeye Invitational.
“Good first day with season-best times on just a little rest,” said SDSU head coach Doug Humphrey. “We continue to get better and expect an even better day tomorrow.”
The first of the three-day invite consisted of 12 events, including a season-best performance for the men.
Women’s diving didn’t earn any points after Day 1 of competition as Minnesota currently leads the women’s side with 333 points, while the men’s side is paced by Iowa (251).
Men’s Relays
SDSU finished the 200 free relay in a season-best 1 minute, 25.34 seconds (Brenner, Watkins, Angerhofer, Skinner). The 400 medley relay team finished in 17th (3:33.60).

The Jacks return to the pool Friday morning for Day 2 of the Hawkeye Invitational. Swimming preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., followed by diving preliminaries at 1 p.m., and then, finals at 6 p.m.
