Jackrabbits lead day one of home golf tournament

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State women’s golf kicked off the 2021-22 season Monday with the Jackrabbit Intercollegiate at the Brookings Country Club. The Jackrabbits lead the team standings after the first day of competition.

Partway through the second round, which was suspended due to rain and darkness, SDSU holds a narrow one-stroke lead over North Dakota State. The Jackrabbits finished the first 18 holes tied for second with a score of 301 (+13). CSU Fullerton led the field by two strokes (+11).

Alex Kandolin had the top performance of the day for the Jackrabbits. She completed 14 of the 18 holes in the second round and ended Monday at +4 and tied for third place.

Mia Seeman and Shakira-Ann Kuys are one shot behind Kandolin and are tied for sixth. The pair has six holes remaining in round two.

Lani Potter (+6) is in 12th place and Hester Sicking (+8) is in a tie for 20th place to round out the SDSU team.

Piper Stubbs and Tatum Depuydt competed individually for SDSU. Stubbs is tied for 13th with a +7 score while Depuydt is tied for 22nd place at +9. 


The Jackrabbits will return to the course Tuesday to complete round two and play the third and final round. Play will resume at 8:30 a.m. at the Brookings Country Club.
