Jackrabbits sweep team titles at home meet

BROOKINGS – The Jackrabbits swept the team titles at the SDSU Classic on Friday evening at Edgebrook.

South Dakota State returns to action at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.

Men

The Jackrabbits totaled 25 team points.

North Dakota state was second at 54, followed by the SDSU Alumni squad (108).

Former Jackrabbit Joel Reichow, an All-American in 2015 and 2016, was medalist in the 8K in a time of 25 minutes, 14.42 seconds.

SDSU Alumni’s Trent Lusignan was runner-up with a 25:16.07 clocking.

The Bison’s Tim Heikkila (25:21.56) placed third.

Tom Breuckman led SDSU with a time of 25:25.17, putting him in fourth.

Joseph Minor-Williams (25:30.35), Gabe Peters (25:31.37), Ben Olson (25:35.81) and Micah Mather (25:49.26) were fifth through eighth, respectively, to complete the team tally.

Women

SDSU (31 points) edged NDSU (32) for the team crown.

North Dakota was second at 69.

The Bison’s Kelby Anderson crossed first in the 5K with a time of 18:03.25.

The Jackrabbits’ Anna Donnay placed second in 18:24.35. The Fighting Hawks’ Hannah Oscarson (18:31.93) took third.

SDSU’s Ellie Friesen (18:44.17) and Cailee Peterson (18:47.43) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Bridget Henne (18:59.12) was ninth and Leah Hansen (19:05.75) 11th to round out the team score.
