Jackrabbits take seventh at GCU tourney

PHOENIX – South Dakota State shot 920 (313-307-300) and finished seventh at the three-day Grand Canyon Women’s Spring Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the 6,110-yard, par-72 GCU Championship Golf Course.

Portland State topped the 15-team leaderboard with an 887 (296-304-287) total and Utah Valley was second at 889 (300-297-292).

The Wolverines’ Carly Dehlin (74-73-72) topped Montana State’s Kelly Hooper (70-76-73) in a playoff for medalist honors after both golfers shot 3-over-par 219 in regulation.

The Jackrabbits’ Cassidy Laidlaw tied for 19th at 226 (77-75-74), Sydney Borman tied for 23rd with a 228 (78-73-77), Teresa Toscano tied for 40th at 233 (77-83-73), Natcha Srimaneerungroj took 54th at 236 (81-76-79) and Magda Kruger ended up in a tie for 65th with a 241 (81-84-76) total. Competing as an individual, Brooke Piearson (94-87-81–262) finished 85th.

SDSU returns to action at the Hurricane Invitational on March 5-7 in Coral Gables, Fla.
