Jacks dominate at St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The South Dakota State swimming and diving teams swept St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center, with the men winning 170-130 and the women prevailing by a 177-123 margin.

“We had two good victories today,” SDSU coach Doug Humphrey said. “We raced well and continued to improve. The team is still feeling tired from training but all the hard work is continuing to pay off. Today was validation that we are on the right track and will continue to get better leading up to the conference meet.”

Diving Dominates

Sophomore Alex Crow became the fifth Jackrabbit to qualify for zone diving with a personal-best 323.93 on the 3-meter. The score moved him to No. 6 in SDSU history.

Mitchell Raihle topped his personal-best on the 1-meter with a score of 337.57 to move to No. 3 overall at SDSU.

Parker Brown also beat his career-best with a 310.35, moving him to No. 5.

Jackrabbits Shine in Freestyle

SDSU won seven of the 10 freestyle events. The women won the 200-, 500- and 1,000-yard events, while the men finished first in the 50, 100, 500 and 1000 free.

Rori Conners won the 500 and 1,000 with times of 5 minutes, 9.51 seconds and 10:30.35, respectively. Jared Miller also won the 500 and 1000  with times of 4:49.96 and 10:04.54.

Richelle Bruyckere finished first in the 200 (1:55.66).

Daniel Jacobson touched first in the 50 and 100 free with times of 21.26 and 46.88.

SDSU Goes One, Two

Kristin Erf and Mikayla Beckman claimed first and second, respectively, in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Freshmen Kristen Davis and Liezl Ocon touched 1-2 in the 100 and 200 butterfly. Alexandra Spinner claimed third in the 200 butterfly.

Wyatt Rumrill and Tanner Davis went 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke, while Rumrill and Peter Matthews swept the 100 breaststroke.

Austin Pham and Christopher Rumrill captured first and second, respectively, in the 200 IM.
