Jacob Lee Langland was born on June 29, 1985, in Brookings, the son of James and Kay (Steen) Langland. He led the way for his brothers and sisters (and liked to remind everyone of it.) Jake left us on June 1, 2019. “Sometimes we live no particular way but our own” (Grateful Dead)
Jacob lived a particularly passionate life and more importantly, he did exactly what he loved!
Jake loved his music, especially the Grateful Dead and going to concerts at Red Rocks with his family and friends. He was an avid Minnesota Twins, Wild and Bears fan and would root for them, no matter what. As much as he loved these teams and bands, the absolute most important part of his life was his family and friends. He enjoyed family hunting and fishing trips with his Papa. Jacob would put his family’s best interests before his own. He always made sure they knew he loved them, and he was there for them. Jacob was a one of a kind son, brother, grandson and friend.
Jake is survived by his parents, Jim and Kay, of Brookings; his siblings, Emily, Adam, Brenna and Daniel; his grandparents, Dennis and Vivian Langland and his loving extended family and very special friends.
He is preceded in death by his great grandma, ‘Gus’ Doris Gustafson and his grandparents, Gordon and Barb Steen and his uncle Ken Steen.
Jake’s family invites you to join in celebrating his life, Jacob style, with a visitation of celebration will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rude’s Funeral Home.
A service of celebration will be at 10:30 am Friday, June 7, 2019 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
In honor of Jacob’s favorite things, the family asks you to wear your favorite concert tee, sports jersey, or tie dye shirts. “Love will see you through.” (Grateful Dead)
