James ‘Jim’ Jensen Madison

James “Jim” Leslie Jensen, 83, of Madison and a former Oldham area resident died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the West Center Baptist Church in Madison with the Rev. Justin DeBerry officiating. Burial is the Oldham City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday  at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church on Saturday.

James Leslie Jensen was born on Aug. 7, 1934, at Ramona, to Segurd and Clara (Koepp) Jensen. He graduated from Oldham High School in 1952.

Following graduation he farmed with his father and served in the South Dakota National Guard from 1957-1963. 

Jim married Joanne Siebelts on Feb. 24, 1961.  They had three children, Roger, Darla and Susan.

Jim was a member of the Oldham Baptist Church, where he served as the treasurer and trustee.  He also served on the Oldham School Board for several years. 

Jim farmed until 2007 and raised cattle until 2014, then in June of 2015 he and Joanne moved into Madison.  They became members of the West Center Baptist Church in 2017.

Jim enjoyed visiting with friends, spending time with family and was always interested in knowing what his grandchildren were up to. Jim would always look forward to a drive out to the farm to help with whatever work needed to be done.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; son, Roger (Sharlene) Jensen; daughters, Darla Jensen and Susan (Brian) Davey; two grandchildren; a sister, Mavis (Dale) Leonhardt;  aunt, Helen Jensen; sister-in-law, Linda Perry, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rodney Perry.
