Janice (Jan) Marjorie Boe, passed away, on June 16, 2021, at the age of 89, after living a full and blessed life. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church in Brookings, SD at 10:30 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:45 am to 10:15 am, masks are available if you require one.
Janice was born to Fred and Marjorie Steuerwald on Jan. 31, 1932.
She married Donald Boe on Dec. 27, 1951, in the Presbyterian Church in Wolsey SD. Jan and Don farmed with her parents before moving to their own farm west of Wolsey. When they sold the farm in 1964, Don went to work for Kaneb Pipeline in Wolsey, then later in Mitchell. Jan began her work career in accounting for various banks and retail stores.
A talented musician, she gave music lessons for many years and used her gift of music in the church where she played organ and piano and often directed the choir. After they retired, they lived in AZ where Jan continued to give her time and talent to the church through her music.
During their 69 ½ years together, they enjoyed traveling the States and abroad. Jan enjoyed, and often hosted, family gatherings that included lots of food (loved to cook), card playing (“Who dealt?”) and sing-a-longs.
Survived by her husband, Don; three children; Rodney, Mesa, AZ; Deanne Weninger (Ed), Brookings, SD; Leland (Jan), Corcoran MN; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; three sisters.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers.
